Baseball-sized hail has pounded homes and cars across Nebraska, as powerful thunderstorms swept the Midwest, wreaking extensive damage, severe flooding and even reportedly tornado touchdowns in some areas.
Hailstones the size of baseballs pummeled the state with devastating effect Tuesday, producing a social media storm flooded with images of the aftermath of the freak hail, showing cracked windshields and houses riddled with holes.


The US National Weather Service received reports of flooding and registered winds of up to 85 mph in neighboring Iowa. In addition, there were reported of eight unconfirmed tornado touchdowns in Nebraska, Reuters reported.

The bout of stormy weather has been brought on by a derecho storm system – a short-lived, large cluster of storms – which is expected to move East on Wednesday morning.



“These storms can knock down trees, cause power outages and travel mayhem for the Wednesday morning commute,” Reuters reported Alex Sosnowski, a senior meteorologist at AccuWeather.com, as saying.

Russia says the recent presidential election in Syria, in which incumbent President Bashar al-Assad was re-elected, was “legitimate.”
“It’s unacceptable to ignore the opinion of millions of Syrians who… came to polling stations and made a choice in the interests of the future of the country,” said Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Alexander Lukashevich in a televised briefing on Thursday.
The Russian official further criticized “certain international partners” for their “shallow political reaction” toward the result of the presidential poll in Syria, adding, “We have no basis to cast doubt on the legitimacy of these elections.”
The Russian delegation that observed the presidential election in Syria said the poll was held in a “transparent atmosphere” despite all security concerns in the crisis-hit country, stated Lukashevich, adding that the team “noted a very high turnout.”
According to official figures released late on Wednesday, Assad won nearly 90 percent of the votes cast in Syria’s presidential race. Syria’s Supreme Constitutional Court also announced that over 73 percent of the 15.8 million eligible voters had taken part in the election.
Following the announcement, crowds took to the streets throughout the country to celebrate the landslide victory of Assad.
Delegations from different countries, including Iran, Russia, the Philippines, Bolivia, Venezuela, Tajikistan, Zimbabwe and Uganda, monitored the presidential election in Syria.
However, the vote result has drawn angry reactions from the so-called Syrian National Coalition (SNC) – the country’s Western-backed opposition group – and a number of its foreign supporters.
The SNC has described the election as illegitimate. The United States and Britain have also voiced concern over the vote, with US Secretary of State John Kerry calling the poll a “great big zero.”

A hundred years ago, France was one of major world powers. Today, this is a country, to which one can dictate their conditions, on how, for instance, to build relations with Russia. The French can not agree with it – they vote for Marine Le Pen. The leader of the National Front (NF) supports the actions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, but her reputation in Europe is the one of a “fascist.”
Today, Europe is ruled by Angela Merkel and the man in charge of the euro printing press – ECB President Mario Draghi. They turned national governments into the “puppets manipulated by the ECB, acting on the basis of a strange mixture of ideological dogmatism and interests of creditors,” Spanish sociologist Ignacio Sánchez-Cuenca said. In Europe, though, there are real forces that do not like the transformation of their countries into the Fourth Reich. One of such countries is France, where the population lives to see centrist governments – right and left ones – replacing each other, but nothing changes in their life.
Against this background, the right party National Front chaired by Marine Le Pen won the elections to the European Parliament, having gained 25 percent of the vote which was twice the vote of the ruling Socialist Party. Today, Le Pen attracts a lot of media attention in the world, because she speaks for millions of French and could only care less about the rules of tolerance and political correctness. In a Sunday interview with Der Spiegel, Marine Le Pen dared to warn German Chancellor Angela Merkel that her short-sighted policy could lead to an explosion in the European Union, which Le Pen calls “the European Soviet Union.”

Western analysts were puzzled by Marine’s arrogance, they even began to analyze the prospect of her victory at the next presidential election in France. The forecasts are not in her favor yet, but the key word here is “yet.”
Le Pen said that she would try to form a eurosceptic faction at the European Parliament. It will be a faction once it collects parties from seven different countries. They can be the British UKIP of Nigel Farage, right-wing parties from the Netherlands, Denmark, Italy, Austria, Finland and Hungary. Center-left parties can join the bloc too, for example, the German party Alternative for Germany (AFD), which sensationally won seven percent of the German electorate.
Frightened by the prospect of losing control, European bureaucrats launched persecution against Marine Le Pen. Last week, German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble called the National Front a fascist party. The West accuses Le Pen of anti-Semitism and racial hatred for her remarks about Muslims. The invasion of Muslims in France reminds her of the Nazi occupation of Germany, she said.

According to a survey by Ipsos-Steria, not less than 30 percent of voters under the age of 35 supported the NF in the European vote; 37 unemployed individuals voted for the NF; the percentage among workers was 45.
Criticism comes not only on the line of the renunciation of European values, but also on the line of support to “Putin’s corrupt regime.” Farage of the UK joined Le Pen in calling Putin one of the world leaders, whom he “admires most.” “They (Marin and Farage) try to impose something on Europe, from which Ukraine is trying to escape,” wrote, for example, Anne Applebaum. Those, who are referred to as rightist forces, are realists. They do not want Europe to lay down under the United States or the EU bureaucrats. Marine Le Pen and others of rightist beliefs express the point of view of those who are fed up with the artificial creation of the European Union. Moreover, Le Pen clearly points at those, who can be her ally against the backdrop of weakening Europe. Russia needs this support, and the number of such leaders will grow as the Europeans continue to show more and more indignation about the American course,” Fursov said.

Despite the state-owned water company E.Y.A.TH functioning as a profitable enterprise, the Greek government is swiftly proceeding in its privatization plan and selling their majority shares to foreign interests.
An increase in turnover and net profits was registered in the 1st quarter of 2014, compared to the corresponding period last year. Gross profits are up 2.2% , at 8.1 million Euros.
This is irrelevant to the Greek state however. Foreign investment firms have emerged as potential buyers, and the privatization process has been accelerated under this pressure. A referendum in Thessaloniki conducted during the first Sunday of the election found that 98% of the city’s citizens (more than 213,000 people) gave an overwhelming “no!” to the privatization of their water.
One of the larger and well-known bidders is the Jewish owned company Mekorot. Six representatives of the company were recently present in Thessaloniki to have talks with officials and an assembly. During these talks they told the Greek people they had no reason to fear privatization of E.Y.A.TH, which is mind-blowing hypocrisy, as Mekorot itself is owned by the Israeli government!
Who exactly is Mekorot, and why are they dangerous?

The Mekorot water company is a public enterprise in the hands of the Israeli state. It was founded in 1937 and is in charge of 90% of Israel’s drinking water and 80% of the country’s water reserves.
The company’s unscrupulous nature first reared its head in 1950, where they embarked on an expensive project that diverted water from the historic Jordan River in the West Bank and Jordan to provide water for Israel. Today the Jordan River, which provided water for millions of Palestinians and Jordanians for much of history, is little more than a sewer thanks to this act.
In August 1967, an Israeli military order put Mekorot in charge of all water in the West Bank in order to transfer it to Israel. Virtually all Palestinian water sources are now in the hands of the State of Israel.
In 2005 Mekorot founded an international business section, in order to expand its influence and secure more resources for the Jewish people. Generous contracts have been signed to them in the United States, Cyprus, Argentina, India and Uganda. In Greece, Mekorot lobbyists have been vying for a chunk in the government’s fire-sale privatization program. Further cooperation agreements have been signed in Brazil, Portugal, and Italy.
The frightening ease with which the Zionist owned company has used water as a weapon against racial and religious groups they hate should concern every nation thinking of signing over their supply. Palestinian organizations not long ago organized demonstrations against Mekorot for its implementation of “water apartheid” against the people they occupy. The movement seeks to bring attention to their brazen violations of international law, close support and subsidization for illegal Israeli settlements, theft of natural resources from their rightful owners, and the use of water as a weapon of ethnic cleansing. Thanks to the control of Mekorot, Palestinians today deal with chronic shortages of water, while neighboring Jewish colonizers in the West Bank liberally fill their swimming pools and spas…with the water diverted from the indigenous people’s villages!
We must protect our most vital resources from these dangerous international criminals. Greek water is for the Greek people!
Here are the six reasons PENGON and Friends Of Earth gave for their boycott of Merkorot:
1. Mekorot operates a system of water apartheid: Mekorot has been responsible for water rights violations and discrimination since the 1950s when it built Israel’s national water carrier, which is diverting the Jordan River from the West Bank and Jordan to serve Israeli communities. At the same time it deprives the Palestinian communities from the possibility of access to water: Palestinian consumption in the OPT is about 70 litres a day per person – well below the 100 litres per capita daily recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) – whereas Israeli daily per capita consumption, at about 300 litres, is about four times as much.
Mekorot has refused to supply water to Palestinian communities inside Israel, despite an Israeli high court ruling recognizing their right to water.
A French parliamentary report called these policies water apartheid.
2. Mekorot’s vital support for the illegal settlement enterprise: Mekorot support for colonial settlement has continued since the 1967 occupation of the West Bank, Gaza and the Golan Heights. The company took monopoly control over all water sources in the occupied territories, implementing policies that bolster Israeli settlements at the expense of Palestinian communities.
The United Nations report of the independent international fact-finding mission on the implications of the Israeli settlements on the rights of the Palestinian people as well as the latest report on the settlements by the Secretary-General of the UN denounce Mekorot’s role in the settlement enterprise.
All cooperation with Mekorot inherently benefits from or contributes to the illegal settlement enterprise. Dutch public water company Vitens states that “Whether it comes to knowledge about extraction of water or to the benefits that can be achieved with smart grids, these cannot be separated from what the UN writes about the policy of Mekorot (*) towards the Palestinian territories and the settlements.”
3. Mekorot participates in the international crime of pillage of natural resources and wanton destruction of water infrastructure:
Mekorot operates some 42 wells in the West Bank, mainly in the Jordan Valley region, which mostly supply the Israeli settlements.
Mekorot works in close partnership with the Israeli military, confiscating irrigation pipes
from Palestinian farmers and destroying the water supply sources of Palestinian communities. In 2012 alone the Israeli army demolished 60 water and sanitation structures belonging to Palestinians.
4. Mekorot denies Palestinians the human right to water as a tool for the Israeli policy of displacement:
In the summer Mekorot, escourted by the army, turns off the tap on Palestinian West Bank communities, leaving them to dry.
Mekorot is a proud partner of the JNF’s “Negev Blueprint” plan, which will see 40 000 Palestinian Bedouin citizens of Israel uprooted from their homes into reservations and their land used for Jewish-only settlement in the Negev.
5. Mekorot exports its water apartheid benefiting from water privatization:
Argentina’s Public sector union ATE stated during its campaign that “if the tender is awarded to Mekorot water would rank as a luxury item and not as a vital resource that is a social right, and, secondly, human rights would be violated by giving the award to a company that supports the Palestinian genocide.”
6. Mekorot’s purported ‘expertise’ on water is plain ‘bluewashing’: the construction of water myths intended to bolster Israel’s image abroad. Unlike what the company claims, Israel did not make the ‘desert bloom’. The area of historic Palestine is rich in water and Palestinians have a centuries-old agriculture tradition. Israel exploited this myth to justify its misguided diversion of the Jordan River waters, turning the historic river into a sewage pit, and to justify aggression against neighboring countries. The reality is that Israel is a water waster, its citizens consume water double the European average and its agriculture sector is ecologically unsustainable, with government subsidized farmers growing water thirsty crops.

Government intelligence agencies have direct access to telecommunication companies’ infrastructure which allows them to spy and record phone calls leaving no paper trail, the UK’s largest mobile phone company Vodafone has revealed.
The British operator said wires have been attached to its phone networks in some of the 29 countries in which it operates in Europe, as well as around the world, the Guardian reported. Governments similarly connect to other telecom groups, reportedly allowing them to listen to or record live conversations. In some cases, the surveillance agencies can also track the whereabouts of a customer.
“For governments to access phone calls at the flick of a switch is unprecedented and terrifying,” Liberty director Shami Chakrabarti told the Guardian. “Snowden revealed the internet was already treated as fair game. Bluster that all is well is wearing pretty thin – our analogue laws need a digital overhaul.”
But now Vodafone is pushing back against government surveillance through direct access to the pipes. On Friday, it will publish its first Law Enforcement Disclosure Report about how governments spy on people through the company’s infrastructure.
“These pipes exist, the direct access model exists,” the telecom giant’s group privacy officer, Stephen Deadman told the Guardian. “We are making a call to end direct access as a means of government agencies obtaining people’s communication data. Without an official warrant, there is no external visibility. If we receive a demand we can push back against the agency. The fact that a government has to issue a piece of paper is an important constraint on how powers are used.”
“We need to debate how we are balancing the needs of law enforcement with the fundamental rights and freedoms of the citizens,” Deadman said.
The problem with many of the laws on the books that governments use to receive the warrants is “most of the legislation on privacy and surveillance predates the internet and needs to be updated,” the Guardian wrote, citing the report’s introduction.

In its report, the company asks for the direct-access pipes to be disconnected, for countries to outlaw the practice and for governments to “discourage agencies and authorities from seeking direct access to an operator’s communications infrastructure without a lawful mandate.”
Vodafone began working on the report last autumn, in the wake of the first Snowden leaks about government spying. It insists that its comprehensive survey of government warrant applications is not because of consumer backlash, the Guardian reported, though analysts contend that losing customers’ trust could cost the company tens of millions of pounds.
But Vodafone isn’t opening up about everything. One of the first of the Snowden revelations last June was about Project Tempora, which allows the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) spy agency to intercept and store for 30 days huge volumes of data, like emails, social network posts, phone calls and much more, culled from international fiber-optic cables. On the one-year anniversary of the first Snowden leak the location of secret GCHQ bases in Oman tapping into underwater cables was revealed. The Vodafone report makes no mention of revelations about its participation in secret GCHQ operations.

Officers found 15 pages of members of the German Communist Party to be assassinated, and 80 pages on Germany’s Social Democrats, one of the two major parties in the country.

Let’s give the example of Syriza in Greece at the moment, which has just won, come top of the list in the European elections. This is an example of a government which is not going to be tolerated by the United States of America.
RT: You write a prototype “soft assassination”, British Prime Minister Harold Wilson, whose “blasphemy in American eyes” was to “flirt with nuclear disarmament”.
Cottrell: Yes, it’s become a little bit more difficult to, shall we say, use violent means, than it was in the past. So now you’re going to see more of the Harold Wilson tactics. And they will now increase and I will tell you why – because this weekend the European elections were held. And this has resulted in a very large bloc of anti-Europeans, led by the “Penista”, the National Front of France, which has come out on top in the European elections. Nigel Farage, leader of the United Kingdom Independence Party in the UK, who has come from virtually nowhere to become the leader of the third largest party. This will not be allowed to happen, so there will have to be Harold Wilson-type moves now to remove those leaderships, and those parties in those various countries.

Since then, NATO’s dispatched the continent’s most developed nation to a “Hobbesian anarchy”, overthrew the Ivory Coast, and chopped Sudan’s oil-rich southern half into a new state, leaving just two and a half countries still outside its military grid.

Rick Rozoff, Stop NATO newslist: Global enslavement is the answer to that, and we see it manifested for example in ways that may not be immediately obvious, but after certain amount of analysis we can see for example votes that’ve come up in the United Nations General Assembly in the last year and a half, two years, particularly I’m thinking on the question of Syria. We see that the US through a number of factors – economic bribery, diplomatic blackmail, subversion but also through bilateral, multilateral military programs, has been able to secure the overwhelming compliance or servility of other nations. And that’s one of the reasons why there’s no diplomatic and political independence in nations, because they are beholden to the United States and, frankly speaking, they’re fearful of US economic and ultimately military retaliation should they not go along with the US diktat.

Ten days ago the administration tested its Star Wars system for Eastern Europe, which will now be rolled out starting in Romania. Obama brands his system the “stronger, smarter and swifter” version of Ronald Reagan’s initial Star Wars program.
Under the plan, the US attacks Russia with nuclear weapons, while NATO missile defense in Eastern Europe mops up any attempted response.
NSNBC News writes “it is most likely and understandable” Russia interprets NATO’s Star Wars deployment on its border as an “unofficial declaration of war.”
Aerospace analysts told Global Research that US Space Command is planning a nuclear first strike on Russia, as well as one on China in 2016.

The idea is to hit China or Russia first with a first strike, and then when they try to fire their nuclear retaliatory capability, it is then that the so-called missile “defense” systems would be used to pick off any retaliatory strike, so after a first strike sword is thrust into the heart of China or Russia, then the missile defense shield would be used to pick off any retaliation giving the US the a “successful” first strike attack.
It has nothing at all to do with defense, it has nothing to do with freedom or democracy, or any of those words that are used all the time to disguise the true intentions; it’s all about full spectrum dominance.
